Wow, what a month we had in April. Easter baskets were our project for the month, and donations were outstanding, in a way. I'm pleased to say we collected over 30 baskets, and all went out. In addition to the Troy shelter, we dropped off 10 @ the Springfield women's shelter, 2 to the children of a Stage 3 cancer victim, and 2 with a violence victims family. Where I'm kinda bummed is the baskets all came from folks either I work with, or know. When a bunch of blue collar factory workers on reduced work hours can do something this great, so can you. Need some folks to step it up out there. We can only do this with YOUR help.
I'd LOVE to see 100 baskets from ALL our 'Friends' next year, but I need your help!
Now, I know its been a few since I wrote, and I'll try to explain why. Those of you who have lost a loved one, whether by natural or violent means, already understand. After something like this occurs, the smallest thing can cause memories, both pleasant and not so pleasant. The simple act of handing an Easter basket brought about many emotional moments. But, this is what Brandon would want us to do. Take the opportunity to help others, regardless the toll on ourselves. Believe me, I know how hard it is, but we must move forward.
That being said, here's our mission for the next few months. Since we don’t have a major holiday, lets come up with ways to promote the Foundation. Once again, I need your help! Email, snail mail, Facebook us, however you feel comfortable with, get a hold of us. Comment on the blogs, add a pic, and make sure to tell us about yourselves. Also, if ya know someone who might be in need, let us know. While our main mission is victims of violence, we will help all. We plan on eventually doing some work with animal shelters, (Brandon loved his animals!), we have already reserved a booth at the Tremont city car show on Labor day weekend (come see us!), and are lookin' for ways to get the word out. BIG PROJECTS- include a possible concert @ Hobart arena, contacting artists now. What do you think, comedian, singer or artist? Talk to me, people ….
In closing, I want to thank the following incredible people for their Easter basket donation; Shanna K, Tim K, Darla B, Jennifer H, Mr. and Mrs Bill Foster from Tremont City Auctions, Jojo, Jenny H, Mr. and Mrs Dennis H, Diane N, Lorena, Lori G, Jim K, Irma C, randy M, Michelle O'L, Roger P, Shane S, Royetta H, Winnie B, Amy, and the fine folks at Kutrite Manufacturing for the donation that allowed us to feed the Troy Women's shelter. You guys all rock!
Start saving, because I'm going to hit all of you up for Christmas stuff !
Be good, treat others well, I'll be back in a few ...
Love,
Hollywood
Great job with the baskets, Tom!
