Merry Christmas, ya'll!

wont be much time to post here, so if you need me, use the Facebook link. ok, the direct deposit is kickin butt! FINALY got some cash comin in, in regular dribbles! the Clark County Victims Advoctes office asked for our help with a local family, 2 adults, 6 kids. 3 biological, 3 taken in when their mother was killed. want to help, again, contact me either here of FB. need clothes, food, beds, ( i think thats covered)and gifts for the holidays! we are also helpin with a tree for the family of a child killed locally in a traffic accident.
o, know how bummed some of us get duirng the holidays? worry over bills, toys, that not popular cousin comin to visit? let me help YOU! come volunteer with us, it gets your mind off of it! seriously, as bad is it is for us "normal" folk, i cant begin to tell you how horrible it is fo rthe family of a violent act. the tinest action reminds us of long lost good times, and can take days/weeks to get past it. help a person with this problem, by being their friend. OR, leting us know, and we will do what ever we can to help..
BIG changes coming! the llok of the website will be changin in the coming year! the store will be open! (finally!) will be remoing the bio page, and replacing it with our mission statement. we are looking inot a real "friends" of brandon page, were kids who knew him can stay in touch.. post pics, etc..
all in all, not a bad year, but wait till next! great things coming!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Thanksgiving 2011

well, again this year we have made our small contribution to the Miami County Family Abuse Shelter. a donation in the amount of $150 was made to the grocery bill for the shelter... currently, the Christmas dinner will provided by us , as well.
great news! the FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number has been applied for, and secured. we have hired a lady in Urbana to manage the Foundation financial side, due to the amount of time, and talent it requires.
we also have our firt official "direct deposit" donors, all of whom i work with.. now, ANYBODY can do this! a simple buck a week(or more!) goes directly to the people who need it most. not many organizations can truly claim that! contact any of our members for more information.
we are also looking forward to working with the Miami County Victims Advocates office, for the adopt-a-family program....they have also asked us, and we graciously accepted, to serve the refreshments for their annual Homicide Rememberance evening, the 5th of December... One of our Board members Kim Pooler will be speaking. while it wont be enjoyable, it is necessary...wish us luck, or better yet, come help us!
keep in mind, foks the only way we can help someone is with your information. most people, me included wont come ask for help. so we rely heavily on the tips we get from you. know someone who has been through a life changin experience? neighbor having hard times? let us know, see if we can help...
i promise to be back in a week or so, till then, habve the Merriest of Christmases...!

4 months, and still here!

once again, i find myself behind in my blogging! it has beena few since my last chat, but felt it was time to update our few loyal followers..
big things in the works, the best is that we now have an OFFICIAL accountant, for the Foundation. who, in turn, promptly told me we need an attorney... AAAHHHH! anybody know a fair lawyer, with non profit experience,
willing to work for peanuts? if so please contact me!
2nd big news is the upcoming car show, in Tremont City, on Labor Day weekend. this is our 1rst real outting, to raise both awareness, and funds! be sure to spread the word, and come visit us! lots of cool stuff to bid one, of buy a raffle ticket for, withmore comin in by the day. Big thanks to all the fine folks willing to help us out here.
today, we made a run to the Family Abuse Shelter in Troy, to take a cehck form some of our donors who requested it go directly to them. john and lolori,, we can do this without great "Friends" like you. while in troy, stopped by to see our old "Friends" @ the Miami County Pros office. they had a bag of back to school goodies we then dropped off at the shelter...this is what we do, people..
holidays are comin, and lots of people suffering who need our help. i know how tight cash is, but your time is free, and we can also us more volunteers. sometimes, just a "Friend" to listen is all someone needs... could it be you?
as usual, we love to hear from you, drop us a note in any of the ways listed in the website...
till then, i remain, your "Friend"

well, 1 year down. what do we do now, you ask?

last Friday was the 1 year anniversary of Brandons passing. the months leading up to it, were especialy hard for the family. BUT, i for one, had an ephinany. after continually asking for a sign that we were tryin to do the right thing, with the Foundation and all, on the evening of his anniversary, the rubber wristband i had worn since his death, broke and came off. now, i have has this on in the snow, at work in some fo the crappiets conditions you can imagine, and it has made it. so, here's how i'm taking it.
the time for mourning is over, for me at least. dont get me wrong, doesnt amke the pain stop, or the anger, or any of the sadness go away. what it does, is make me take back control of my life. for the past year, a TV show, a book, or even the wrong(or right!) song could make me breakdown. THAT part is over.
i will be purchasing NEW wrist bands for those who want one, but with more of a rememberance theme.... might even say the exact same thing, but with anew message. none of us are in this alone, whether its Brandon, or any other loved one. we want to help..
the Foundation was on shaky ground to say the least. i have no background for this, and just jumped in feet first, and tried to keep my head outta the water. with some new help, and new faes, and the support of the family(who are now ready!) we are slowly walkin forward. i tried to sprint, but this is a marathon, not a sprint.
now the big question, who wants to go with us..? or do you know someone who needs help? contact us via the website and lets do this together...

ALSO< need your input.... thinin about spreading the word through the local festivals, what does anyone think?
AND, last, but not least, actually the most important, next month is the 1 year anniversary of losing our CEO, Brandon. a memorial service will be held, location to be determined yet. but stay in otuch here, and on FACEBOOK for more details..
till then, remember, "life is too short, not to do something that matters!"

April

Wow, what a month we had in April. Easter baskets were our project for the month, and donations were outstanding, in a way. I'm pleased to say we collected over 30 baskets, and all went out. In addition to the Troy shelter, we dropped off 10 @ the Springfield women's shelter, 2 to the children of a Stage 3 cancer victim, and 2 with a violence victims family. Where I'm kinda bummed is the baskets all came from folks either I work with, or know. When a bunch of blue collar factory workers on reduced work hours can do something this great, so can you. Need some folks to step it up out there. We can only do this with YOUR help.

I'd LOVE to see 100 baskets from ALL our 'Friends' next year, but I need your help!

Now, I know its been a few since I wrote, and I'll try to explain why. Those of you who have lost a loved one, whether by natural or violent means, already understand. After something like this occurs, the smallest thing can cause memories, both pleasant and not so pleasant. The simple act of handing an Easter basket brought about many emotional moments. But, this is what Brandon would want us to do. Take the opportunity to help others, regardless the toll on ourselves. Believe me, I know how hard it is, but we must move forward.

That being said, here's our mission for the next few months. Since we don’t have a major holiday, lets come up with ways to promote the Foundation. Once again, I need your help! Email, snail mail, Facebook us, however you feel comfortable with, get a hold of us. Comment on the blogs, add a pic, and make sure to tell us about yourselves. Also, if ya know someone who might be in need, let us know. While our main mission is victims of violence, we will help all. We plan on eventually doing some work with animal shelters, (Brandon loved his animals!), we have already reserved a booth at the Tremont city car show on Labor day weekend (come see us!), and are lookin' for ways to get the word out. BIG PROJECTS- include a possible concert @ Hobart arena, contacting artists now. What do you think, comedian, singer or artist? Talk to me, people ….

In closing, I want to thank the following incredible people for their Easter basket donation; Shanna K, Tim K, Darla B, Jennifer H, Mr. and Mrs Bill Foster from Tremont City Auctions, Jojo, Jenny H, Mr. and Mrs Dennis H, Diane N, Lorena, Lori G, Jim K, Irma C, randy M, Michelle O'L, Roger P, Shane S, Royetta H, Winnie B, Amy, and the fine folks at Kutrite Manufacturing for the donation that allowed us to feed the Troy Women's shelter. You guys all rock!

Start saving, because I'm going to hit all of you up for Christmas stuff  !

Be good, treat others well, I'll be back in a few ...

Love,

Hollywood
